In a classic case of “don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone,” zombies are currently needed in Monroeville. As the Penguins so painfully reminded us yesterday, we are not currently the City of Champions. Thus, we must assert ourselves as the Zombie Capital of the World, an honor that no redheaded, curly-haired Philadelphia hockey players can take away.
Monroeville Zombies, the store and museum at the mall where the dead walked in the Dawn of the Dead, is currently seeking a “zombie horde” for its upcoming event at the neighboring convention center. From May 3-7, Monroeville will be scene of HauntCon, more formally known as the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Conference. With features like the the “Hearse and Parade Car Show,” the event is exactly what it sounds like: awesome. The ambitious convention will have bus tours to various haunted attractions in the greater Pittsburgh area (Hundred Acres Manor, Fright Farm, etc.) and the zombie horde is needed to “attack” said tour buses. Interested zombies are asked to contact Monroeville Zombies to enlist.
HauntCon will also feature vendors, celebrity guests, a film contest, and a costume ball.
