Though I doubt her return to the city she insulted will ever spawn a DVE parody song as glorious as “Douchebag Jagr,” Sienna Miller’s return seems far more likely than the once-mulleted Czech winger’s did in the hours before free agency last summer.
Sources state that she of the “Shitsburgh” comment is set to return to Pittsburgh to play the wife of Olympic wrestler and murder victim Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) in the tentatively titled Foxcatcher set to commence filming in Pittsburgh this month.
For a city about which she said to Rolling Stone, “Can you believe this is my life?,” Miller seems to enjoy its spawn. Aside from appearing in the adaptation of Pittsburgh native Michael Chabon’s novel Mysteries of Pittsburgh, she starred in Factory Girl as Edie Sedgwick, a model who rose to underground fame in the films of Pittsburgh native Andy Warhol. No word yet on whether she will play Rikki Rockett in the upcoming Bret Michaels biopic.
“Will you pity me when you’re back in your funky New York apartment and I’m still in Pittsburgh? I need to get more glamorous films and stop with my indie year,” Miller said in the aforementioned Rolling Stone interview.
Though she never claimed to be “dying alive,” her return should inspire the people of Pittsburgh to engage in some zealous taunting usually reserved for our orange-clad friends across the state. As it is, Miller would have the last laugh if she knew that Folino’s Young’s Tavern (the South Side bar that famously denied her service in 2006) and its annexed Tom’s Diner had closed to presumably give way to something with fewer names.
So, Yinzers, what are your plans? Will you be welcoming Sienna Miller back like a Flyer. Jagr’s locked out of Dallas now, and who knows if we’ll get to even heckle him this year.
